I’m lucky enough to have been able to call London home for 5 years now and have experienced some of the best food i have ever tasted right here on my doorstep.

With Valentine’s day just around the corner, many Londoner’s will be hitting the city with their special someone.

Here is my list of 10 restaurants you might not have thought of but are worth your consideration when making those all important reservations!

1.Clos Maggiore, Covent Garden

This beauty consistently tops lists for most romantic restaurant in London (and the world!) and quite rightly so!
Swoon over the interior of twinkling fairy lights and apple blossom with a glass of vino (there wine list is impressive at 2500 wines!) and enjoy the laidback ambiance whilst being attended by the most charming waiters.

What to have: Shoulder of Rabbit & the Wagyu Beef with a wine recommendation from the sommelier!

Where to find it: 33 King Street, London, WC2E 8JD

4. L’Autre pied, Marylebone

This is where we step up a bit with some fine dining! L’Autre pied is Michelin starred restaurant that offers seriously first class food. The actual premises itself is a little unexciting, but it does allow your tastebuds to do all the work (some dishes left me utterly speechless, nothing disappoints!).

What to have: Tasting menu all the way!

Where to find it: 5-7 Blandford St, Marylebone, London W1U 3DB

5.Sketch, Mayfair

Not a one, but a TWO Michein starred restaurant to add to the list. Head on up to the Lecture Room & Library restaurant and experience not only fine dining, but the BEST table service i have ever had! Watch what i can only describe as a ballet of servers ensure your experience is second to none!

What to have: The tasting menu (its pricey at £120 pp, but oh so worth it for a treat!) and opt in for the Sea Gull eggs (yup, you read that right!). To finish, its worth ordering the cheeseboard. They literally bring out every single cheese that ever existed!

Where to find it: 9 Conduit St, Mayfair London W1S 2XG

6. Sticks n Sushi, Covent Garden

Instead of a Menu you are provided with a ‘Photo Album’ (handy if your not sure what your doing with sushi, but staff are more than happy to give guidance). This is a really laid back restaurant but don’t be fooled. The food and cocktails are delicious and presentation is second to none.

What to have: The black cod Caterpillar rolls and the Yaki Hitsuji (Goats cheese & Ham) are winners!

Where to find it: 11 Henrietta Street, London WC2E 8PY

7.The Laughing Gravy, Southwark

A little further afield, but well worth seeking out. ‘The Gravy’ provides an interesting twist on classic bistro dishes at fantastic value with really friendly service. Part of me wants to keep this place a secret, but that wouldn’t be fair now would it?

What to have: The Oak smoked Sea Trout followed by the Venison Wellington. Save room for the Salted Caramel Mousse!

Where to find it: 154 Blackfriars Rd, London SE1 8EN

Brand new for February! There is no mistaking that this is the little sister of The Ivy. Settle down to a classic contemporary menu whilst admiring your surroundings. Wide choice of menu (great for fussy eaters!) that will not break the bank!

What to have: Steak tartare with Laphroaig followed by Shepherds pie. Work your way through their cocktail menu (just to be through…)
